What's Behind The Foster Grant QR Code
Based on what we can find and press releases, it seems that the designer eyewear company have launched their 'Isn't that You Behind Those Foster Grant Videos?' contest on Facebook. It is the company's first ever attempt to enter the social networking scene despite many companies and big brand names having been in the game for more than a year now.
And of course, it features a QR Code.
The QR Code, some customers say, are featured on the window display area of some of their outlets. The QR Code, when scanned with a QR Code-enabled smart phone or android phone resolves to Foster Grant's Facebook contest page – which is a fresh change. Most companies decide to lead users to their main website which forces them to search around for another link or icon so that they can join a contest, download a coupon or access a file. Remember, when it comes to mobile marketing, it's bad to test the patience and loyalty of the users.
If you are promoting a contest, lead them to the contest. If you are promoting a new product, lead them directly to the product. Forcing them to browse around for longer period of time with the QR Code will not only turn them off the contest or promotion, they might even get turned off the brand.
Anyway, Foster Grant is luring users in with 5D4N trip to New York City or Los Angeles, two of the most glamorous cities in the country. On top of that, winners of the QR Code-based contest will also win five pairs of sunglasses...one for each day of the trip that they won. Clever...
Representatives from the company say that they're excited at the brand new way of integrating their website, their products, the brand, online social networking and mobile marketing all into one campaign. They are keen to engage their customers through the social media sites.
At the moment, there is an extensively-made commercial for 'Who's That Behind Those Foster Grants?' promotional campaign. It features, after all, a huge celebrity like Raquel Welch. For those who do not have the creative flair for film-making, you can still access the code, get to the facebook page and vote for their favorite videos. The videos will be judged by people from FGX International.
The organizers are giving away quite lucrative prizes to non-winners too so, it sounds fantastic. If you spot a Foster Grant QR Code while walking in a mall, why not scan it and be a part of this whole glamor-filled fanfare? If not, you can just click here to the Facebook site.
