The ‘Anything Goes’ Code
So, the large corporations are beginning to see the full potential of QR Codes but the main target have not been addressed. Are people as receptive as we want them to be? Do they see how the interactivity and connectivity can make their lives a better one yet? Are they really catching on to the QR Code train?
Despite not seeing too much into the potential of QR Codes right now, they are beginning to see them as more than just a square box of nothingness with absolutely meaningless black and whites.
Google employees have very funky business cards. On the back, they have a QR Code imprinted on it. Who keeps business cards these days. The last I heard, kids reuse their parents’ business cards as bookmarks. However, knowing the short time-span of business cards, why not print a QR Code on it and let people scan it, retrieve information and then save it to their mobile phones instantly. All information, including company address, position held, website, blog…etc can be instantly retrieved and saved into another person’s mobile phone that way.
The same way a QR Code can be printed on paper, it works on t-shirts, mugs, pens, mouse pads, etc. In fact, a QR Code can also contain many different types of information. When they’re in QR Code format, you can easily share it with everyone else. Let’s imagine you’re organizing a charitable event and you need to have the word out and about as much as possible. Print a QR Code and place it on your blog, Facebook, Twitpic, website, and display it on stickers and place it in prominent places for public access. With one single scan of their mobile phones, the event is added to their calendars.
For companies, just think of it this way. QR Codes can create a code that lets people scan the code and dial. They’re going to love you for it, you see. Event organizers can have QR Codes created for the location, map, and address of the event venue to facilitate out-of-town guests.
The QR Code technology is still growing and there is so much that it can do. It all starts with having fun with QR Codes, take the scavenger hunts as examples. People will begin to make use of, accept and help promote the technology when they are lost having fun while learning about QR Codes.
