The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Today's QR Code Technology
As with everything else in life, there is a flip side to a story. QR Codes, although said to be one of the best things to happen to the internet-savvy society in today's world, has its disadvantages but we are only regarding it in the light of modern society's acceptance at this present moment.
The popularity of QR Code is growing rapidly all around the world and we are seeing more cell phone users switch from the conventional cell phone to a smart phone, like Blackberry and iPhone, two of the major market leaders in the cell phone market today.
One of the advantages of using QR Code is that it can read almost anything as long as it is online, it's readable. The cell phone's camera and sensor has got more use now; instead of merely capturing moments in time, it is the link to an online world with the help of a QR Code reader. In order to 'read' a QR Code, the cell phone needs a QR Code reader. If your phone does not come equipped with that, finding it, downloading and installing it will only take moments.
Another advantage of using the QR Code is that the scanner (camera) does not have to be lined-up in a specific manner in order to read a barcode. Some people have the misconception of thinking that one has to line up the scanner PERFECTLY to the QR Code in order to read it. That is incorrect. Although the user's hand needs to be stable (not shaking in every other direction), a good QR Code reader comes with the ability to sharpen up and correct a 'shaky' scanned QR Code and read it, anyway. And besides, most camera phones on modern cell phones are very advanced.
Other advantages include information being made to you regardless of where you are. Education, advertisement, savings for companies focused on branding their products or services, and much, much more.
A disadvantage for the QR Code fad is that smart phones are far more expensive compared to the conventional phone. It is a form of investment for internet-savvy people but for those who are 40 years old and above, there is absolutely no need to waste such money on technology. But with that said, the market is very competitive and the competitiveness is bringing the price down.
Suffice to say, we, at www.beqrious.com thinks that there are far more advantages to using QR Codes than there are disadvantage. Care to share your point with us in the comment section of this blog post?
