St. Alvia Cartel Goes To Japan Comes Home With QR Code Idea

st alviaToronto's St. Alvia Cartel is not your regular Jonas Brothers or U2, but if they had their way, they will do anything to get to where the mentioned bands went. From their base in Burlington Ontario, they took to the airwaves with a huge storm when they released their debut album. Many parts of the world do not know of this but they've been touring madly outside of Canada. Just recently, they toured Japan.

The mere mention of the word 'Japan', you can imagine what kind of promotion they've hooked on to. Yes, QR Codes. There, the group just finished up with their latest video and they've decided that if things got so big in Japan with the mere use of those square little boxes, why not? Hence, St. Alvia Cartel has recruited the help of a marketing consultant to help them with their QR Code marketing strategies.

The band's main stream type of song covers quite a huge range of genres which includes punk, reggae, new wave and your hard-core rock so I think they're pretty much geared up for a large base of fans. After all, you can't go wrong with so many types of songs to listen to in one single album. Frankly speaking, we've not gotten our hands on their songs but you can find one of them, Time to Go, over here in YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py-c9wvZcXk. According to our sources, their first single 'Don't wanna wait forever' penetrated the Canadian airwaves and broke straight through to the Top 20 which resulted in a lot of media attention from all across the country.

As for the band's QR Code marketing antics, the marketing manager for their QR Code campaign says that they are looking to have some fun with the new form of marketing campaign. If they focused their attention of marketing via QR Code in Japan, they're surely going to get a lot more than just 'fun' out of it. As for how successful QR Code marketing will be for them in their hometown, it's hard to say. As part of the band's promotional efforts, they'll be placing QR Codes on promotional merchandizes, posters and other forms of advertisements as well.

As at the point of this article, we don't see any QR Codes being placed on their website yet. It's unofficial but apparently, they're planning to have one of their fans appear in their up-and-coming video in the coming months. Check their website out for more information about that bit of news from the rumor mill.
