Museum Urk first Dutch museum to use new media
Dutch Museums are intensively searching for new media applications. Museum Urk is the first museum in the Netherlands to introduce a number of original applications based on Internet and IT.
As of December 2009 Museum Urk hosts an exhibition on the life and work of the poet Mariap of Urk. One of her sons acts as curator. Museum Urk introduces a new concept for the exhibition. Through so called QR codes visitors are offered
additional information. They use their mobile phone to watch text and images or listen to audio. Visitors simply aim their cell phone camera at the codes marked with the logo NEO MEDIA and get the desired information.
Museum Urk uses latest development in Internet and IT. They started a
breakthrough in applications for visitor information.
